Strymon melinus

Common name: Gray Hairstreak

Appearance:

• One tail on hindwing
• Upperside is dark gray with large red spot near tail
• Underside is pale gray with past median line that is white bordered with orange
• 1 inch wingspan

Found: In open, nonforested fields and undisturbed weedy areas

Major foodplant: Great variety

Adults are active in: April - October
